Driver's License Suspension Hearings
When you are charged with a DWI you may be looking at two different driver's license suspensions:
  • Administrative Driver's License Suspension: If you have been charged with a DWI you must request a hearing within 15 days of your arrest to contest the automatic suspension of your driver's license.
  • Criminal Driver's License Suspension: If you are convicted of a DWI, you may face the penalty of a drivers license suspension hearing under Texas Transportation Code Section 521.344.
Our attorneys can explain to the process required to defend against a driver's license suspension and, if need be, how to apply for an occupational driver's license.

Occupational Driver's License
If you are facing a driver's license suspension because of a DWI you may be eligible to apply for an Occupational Driver's License (ODL). If granted, an ODL will allow you to drive legally to work, school, and other necessities. For example, going to the doctor is a necessity, but going to a movie is not. You may laugh at the thought, but it is serious. If you get charged with driving outside of the parameters of an occupational license, it can be revoked and you may be charged with Driving While License Suspended (DWLS), a criminal charge. Contact the criminal defense attorneys of our firm for more details about applying for an ODL.
